{Received today from a communication I believe was sent through http://www.cispaisback.org/}

Knowing of your support for an open and accessible internet, I wanted to let you know that I have signed onto Senator Ed Markey’s letter to the FCC regarding proposed rulemaking on net neutrality. As our letter indicates, I firmly believe that Title II reclassification is the best way to for us to preserve the internet as an open and unfettered tool for communication, education and the sharing of ideas. My colleagues and I have urged Chairman Wheeler and the Commission to consider the significant public input that they have already received, as well as how important it is that the Commission promulgates fina

l rules consistent with the principles of an open internet by using Title II reclassification.

I believe that access to the internet should be affordable and readily available to all Americans, and I am glad that the FCC is leaving all options on the table while developing a way to ensure that the Internet remains free and open to everyone. I have urged the FCC to listen to the voices of the thousands of New Yorkers who have commented on the proposed rule, and urge them to use their authority under Title II of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 to preserve the internet as a place for free and open communication. The already overwhelming response to the proposed FCC rule underscores just how important this question is to Americans in their everyday lives, and I will continue to fight to ensure that their voices are heard, and to protect net neutrality for all.

Again, thank you for contacting me about this important issue. Please feel free to contact me in the future if I can be of further assistance on this or any other matter.

Sincerely,

Charles E. Schumer
United States Senator
